Your voice changes when you have a gag in your mouth. Anything in your mouth, for that matter. I don’t mean in the obvious way, where certain sounds become muffled and muted, but rather that the tone itself, the attitude towards the noises, adopts a different timbre, a more… submissive alignment.
It’s something to bite down on, but at the same time it’s something that’s clearly meant to hamper your ability to speak. And speech is so very important to you. It’s how you protest, it’s how you show your affection. It’s how you address me, and how you don’t address me. Without it, you’re that bit closer to being less than human, that bit closer to meeting that primal part of you.
So bite down on that bit of cloth, babydoll, and I’ll just carry on not listening to you. I’ll probably chuckle while I do it.
